Accomplishments and Awarded Belts

One of the philosophies we have in our approach is that a Martial Artists demonstrates their “art” in everything they do. Our accomplishment awards for June go to three very deserving students who showed the success and leadership we hope everyone strives towards.

SARA graduated with honors and received “The Wayne Lillie Award” for demonstrating the four pillars of The Knights of Columbus. Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

ASHLEY was awarded Athlete of the Year at Jack Minor Public School.

HAYDEN graduayed with honors in three subjects including math and science!

Congratulations on these great achievements in addition to graduating from Grade 8. You are the models to inspire others!

A very heartfelt congratulation to all our students who graduated from grade 8 this year. I know many missed a few classes for homework, but your effort has paid off in many ways!

Congratulations to Milania on earning her yellow belt and Nathan for earning his orange. They have both done very well and are deserving of their new ranks! I know they were both nervous, but that did not stop them from doing a great job!

The event is $40 for the day plus the cost of a staff. If you are interested, please sign-up at the front desk.

The freestyle camp is broken into two parts – an introduction to freestyle (sparring) as well as freestyle certification levels. This is a great opportunity for students to get into freestyle (especially for Purple Belts) in a safe and progressive environment. This session is open to all students. Sparring gear is required. The event is $40 plus the cost of gear.

Black Belt Excellence Focus

July is about Sharpening your Focus. Focus is the concentration of body, mind and breath and there is no better way to improve your focus than with weapon training! While there are a lot of things we can do to sharpen our focus, we will be focusing on removing distractions this month. We are going with the mantra of “starve your distractions and feed your focus!

Important Dates for Students

This month’s Black Belt Excellence work is on focus. Make sure you do your homework in a timely manner. Integrity is one of the key qualities of a martial artist. Black Belt Exellence sheets are due July 24th and July 25th. Stripe and belt tests are on July 26th and July 27th.

A Piece of Logic to Retain

Attitude is the arrangement of my body and mind in relationship to myself and other things. The attitude of the club is offensive. Everything we do with it hurts!

Sticks are man-made clubs designed as weapons. A club is any blunt-object that can be held with one or two hands; and used to strike or manipulate. Baseball bats, brooms, and sticks are examples of environmental clubs – things not intended to be used as weapons that in our environment…but can, when needed.
